The story that almost wasn't !

People generally like to think their story is the most unique and special but I really believe ours truly is ... let me tell you what happened. Grab a seat, maybe some popcorn and get closer dear reader :)

It was a very late night. Somewhere downtown Montreal a woman was in the middle of her shift working for a bank activation center. Somewhere far in a different province a man finds his newly received credit card and decides to try his luck in activating it although the hour was very late.

Fate made it so that this man was connected across provinces to that woman. And all it took was that simple, routine call to activate a credit card.

He called hoping someone at the other end was still working that late and picked up the phone. She answered and, at first, the conversation was the most polite and courteous as any of these should normally be. But as it were, the system was a bit slow that night so while waiting for things to move along, the two started to make small talk at first. Mostly they were talking to fill in the air and not let the call turn awkward. One thing led to another and they started to be interested more and more, conversation got a bit more personal and in depth ...

And even though the card has been activated long ago, neither of them felt the time go by nor the need to bring the call to an end.

And dear reader, I am sure by now you already suspect what is going to happen. They decide to meet and live happily ever after. Well you are wrong as the girl was not allowed to interact in any way with any of the customers so she was prohibited by a signed contract not to contact anyone that she met through her work environment and the boy had slim to no chance of finding this mysterious girl that chance brought in his path. But would I leave you hanging like this my dear reader ? Of course not.

A few years went by ... both going on about their lives, just a small piece of paper that the girl kept was the only reminder that all this ever happened. A torn, wrinkled little piece of paper shoved in a forgotten pocket was the only proof that fate brought these two together.

What was on that piece of paper you ask? I will tell you. Moved by that conversation, by a stranger in the night that somehow, miles away, still managed to touch her heart, an email address was scribbled on. It was stashed away and smuggled out of the offices.

One day, when cleaning her purse, the girl stumbled upon that torn up piece of paper, looked at it and remembered fondly the man in the night. Since she was no longer an employee at that certain company, decided to also try her luck and sends a wordy email in the void .. hoping it reaches the right person, wondering, almost afraid that the person might not even remember her .. it was all a game of chance.

She pressed 'Send' thinking to herself that the email most likely was not valid, no longer in use or that maybe her timid thoughts would end up in someone's 'Spam' folder. A little bit later she received a reply ...

And this, my dear reader, is how it all started. Like any love story they met, they were inseparable and life was perfect. But like life often tends to not be like in the movies, the two didn't live happily ever after. life forced their hand to take different paths.

I am not going to tell you all the details but yet again, fate had a different plan for them. Another message sent into the void brings the two together again, almost 10 years later.

When fate gives you a second chance, and she usually never does, you must take it for it may very well be the last. And this is the almost hard to believe story of the two souls that finally found each other again.

I really hope you liked this story, even more so because it is true. And this is the reason we are all here today. To bind them from this day forward and wish them all the happiness in the world.
